CKSF Goes Academic

Citrus Hill WinnersCKSF is going academic. Based on a survey of CKSF participants by a team of UPenn Wharton students, CKSF’s high school participants would like to see more academic scholarship quizzes. So beginning in the fall of 2015, CKSF will offer a series of high school scholarships based on college prep courses starting with biology and chemistry. The quizzes will follow the College Board AP guidelines making them easy for teachers to recommend.

The scholarships are both individual and team competitions delivered in tournament style. Each scholarship consists of three rounds, the Challenge Round, State Championship Round, and National Championship Round.

Challenge Round:

  • Open to every student in the United States
  • Four quizzes, one per month August–November
  • Students may begin at any point during the semester

State Championship Round

  • The top 5 students from each school are advanced to this round
  • One comprehensive quiz
  • Top individual scorer receives a $250 scholarship
  • Top scoring school in each state is declared the State Champion

National Championship Round

  • The top school from each state is advanced to this round
  • One comprehensive quiz
  • Winning school receives the CKSF National Championship Trophy
