About the Scholarship

The Marine Biology Scholarship is designed to reward students for learning about marine animals. Participants can prepare for the quiz by studying the Marine Biology Challenge Database at The Marine Biology Challenge Cheat Sheets are also available as study guides.

Use the cheat sheets from quizzes 1 - 4 to study for the championship round. The championship round will be a mixture of the four previous quizzes. 


All high school students in the U.S. who have an interest in Marine Biology


1st place - $250 scholarship
Guy Harvey prizes will be given for the top 25 participants starting after the second quiz.  The winners of the Guy Harvey prizes for quizzes 2  and 3 will be declared at noon EST on Monday October 14th and 21st. The winners for the 4th quiz will be declared at 11:59 pm EST on Tuesday October 29th. Here are a couple of possible prizes...

How it Works

Participants must register with CKSF to take the scholarship quizzes. There are four quizzes in the Challenge Round. Scores from each quiz are added together for each participant and the top 25% of scorers will be advanced to the Championship Round. The highest scoring student from the Championship Round will receive a $250 scholarship. Use the cheat sheet and visit the CKSF Marine Biology database to prepare for the scholarship quiz. At the end of the competition, the highest scoring participant will earn a scholarship and Guy Harvey prizes.

To participate, you must register with the Common Knowledge Scholarship Foundation at For all CKSF scholarship quizzes, 500 points are awarded  for each correct answer and one point is deducted for each second taken to complete a question. Results are available immediately to each participant and the overall ranking is available within three hours under the "Results" tab at
